Awash is the house. One house, one name, no sub-lines. Everything recovered enters under it.

Edition

Every piece is 1 of 1, by definition — the ocean does not produce duplicates. No re-stocks, no restocked sizes.

Photography

Catalog and product images are clean digital, 4:5, evenly lit — no grain, no nostalgia. Film is reserved for the editorial and sourcing-story layer only.

Story

Recovered April 2024 from the reef at Terramar — the first find, before there was a project to find things for. Low tide, still dropping, after a glassy 2-4ft session of lefts under a fully overcast sky. Pulled from a tide pool, fully embedded, kelp and seaweed grown directly into the seams. Worn all that spring before anyone called it provenance. The strap buckle carries its own weather report: saltwater rust, copper patina, permanent.

House Lore (a story we made up)

A tide-pool naturalist, three seasons into a self-published blog nobody reads, leaned in too far photographing a nudibranch and left with one fewer hat and one more caption idea. The kelp got there first; we got there second.

Story

Recovered May 2024, exact stretch of coastline no longer certain -- the details of the find faded well before the fabric did. Tan cotton, a full-color Tallinn skyline printed twice over, a shirt that traveled considerably further to get lost here than most.

House Lore (a story we made up)

Someone's father-in-law brought this back from a river cruise nobody asked about, wore it exactly once to prove he still could, and lost the argument with the tide before he lost the argument about the cruise.

Story

Recovered June 2024 from the bridge crossing at Malibu First Point, after a waist-high session of reeling right-handers. Left on a rail on the walk to breakfast, still there on the walk back. Rinsed in the ocean on sight, worn as sun cover that same afternoon. Has not left the quiver since. Sun did the rest of the work — the fade is the receipt.

House Lore (a story we made up)

Left on a railing by a man convinced he'd remember exactly where he set it down. He did not. The bridge remembered for him.

Story

Recovered August 2024 from the center line of the Pacific Coast Highway, on foot and barefoot, after a bodysurf session on a hot Sunday afternoon. A gap in traffic and a guardrail were the only obstacles. The crown button still carries a crust of dried saltwater — proof it went back to the water long before it went into a catalog.

House Lore (a story we made up)

A rental-car tourist, four states into a road trip that started at the actual Rushmore, rolled the window down at the wrong moment on the wrong stretch of highway. Presidents: four. Hats: now zero.

Story

Recovered June 2025 from the public showers, left crumpled and wet in the corner under a full moon — abandoned mid-changeover by someone who didn't think twice about it. No one came back. Right size, right pattern, straight into the rotation. Now one of the most-worn pieces in the collection.

House Lore (a story we made up)

An out-of-towner showered off a day of sunburn and bad decisions, changed into a dry pair he'd bought that morning, and left the wet ones folded neatly in the corner — the tidiest abandonment on record.

Story

Recovered from a campground, June or July 2025, midday, for reasons the finder no longer fully recalls. Arrived stained and holed — twin marks on the right breast and shoulder, same likely cause. A bleach soak and a proper wash were required before this one earned a place in rotation. It did. Camping shirt, permanently.

House Lore (a story we made up)

Left behind by a camper mid-emergency, the details of which the fabric has chosen to keep to itself. Bleach handled what conversation could not.

Story

Recovered from Tamarack on a high-tide summer evening in 2025 — left behind by someone who went for a sunset walk and didn't make it back before the tide did. Soft terry, blush and gold flamingo jacquard, no worse for the abandonment.

House Lore (a story we made up)

A sunset-watcher who miscalculated an incoming swell by exactly the amount that mattered. The towel stayed. The evening plans, presumably, did not.

Story

Recovered from Tamarack, summer 2025, a separate high-tide evening from its flamingo counterpart — same story, same stretch of sand. Navy terry, nautical border in yellow and white rope-work. The tide took the towel; AWASH took it back.

House Lore (a story we made up)

Vintage Sunbrights, made in India, decades of use behind it before the ocean ever got involved — this one had already lived a full life as somebody's family towel before it lived a second one as ours.

Story

Recovered August 2025 from the volleyball courts between Warmwaters and Southside, crumpled in the sand after sunset on a hot night. Part of a pattern — Adidas, repeatedly, given up to the beach. The front text has faded past confident reading; the back carries a small hole just above the mark. Time did more to this shirt than the tide ever could.

House Lore (a story we made up)

A recreational-league regular stripped it off mid-match on a hot night and never once looked back — possibly out of exhaustion, possibly out of some deeper relationship with Adidas products we've chosen not to investigate.

Story

Recovered September 2025 from State Beach, crumpled under rocks by the seawall on a receding night tide, found by moonlight alone. Soaking wet, heavy enough to notice on the walk home. A bleach soak and a proper wash brought it back; the fraying at the cuffs and the scattering of small holes were left exactly as found. This one didn't just join the collection — it's the piece that suggested there should be a collection at all.

House Lore (a story we made up)

Wedged under rocks like it had been hiding from something — possibly the tide, possibly its own owner's judgment after a long night. This is the piece that convinced the house it had a house to build.

Story

Recovered from the Oceanside Harbor lot on a strong-offshore morning, chest-to-head-high peaks breaking under an east wind. Soaking wet, crumpled against a parking block. The hibiscus graphic made the decision instantly — some finds need no deliberation.

House Lore (a story we made up)

A grocery employee, off-shift and still smelling faintly of the flower section, wrung out his morning surf session and his work shirt in the same parking lot. Efficient. Regrettable, for him. Excellent, for us.

Story

Recovered from the beach walk along the PCH corridor, March 2026, shortly after its Trader Joe's counterpart and from the same maker. Unusually clean for a found piece — no stains, no story of hardship, just a well-kept pocket tee that goes with everything.

House Lore (a story we made up)

No damage, no drama, no story — which is its own kind of story. Somewhere, someone is still looking for their favorite plain grey tee and has no idea it joined a fashion house.

Story

Recovered from the volleyball courts, April 2026. Faded spring green, built for sun and sport in equal measure — golf course, tennis court, or beach, it doesn't much care which. Whoever left it clearly did.

House Lore (a story we made up)

Ginger, a fixture at a country club membership committee would rather not discuss, wore this on a beach outing that was not, strictly speaking, on her calendar. Something about the tide, or the timing, or both, meant the visor didn't make it back to the clubhouse. We're not asking questions. We're just selling the visor.

Found during a walk instead of a session. AWASH does not authenticate origin stories. We authenticate condition, and this one earned its fade honestly.

House Lore (a story we made up)

A journeyman electrician, twenty years in and finally vacationing somewhere his phone got no signal, decided the ocean owed him a t-shirt more than his union owed him a raise. He was, on balance, correct.
